*Matthew 9:12 " But when he heard it, he said, 'Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick...'" (ESV)
*Jesus is the Great Physician
*Jesus refers to himself as the Great Physician
*This is not to minimize the doctors on this earth but Jesus is the Great Physician
*Why do people refuse to go to the doctor?
*Comparing why people wont go to the doctor is like not going to Jesus Christ
Reason of Pride
*Men do not want pro help with marriage cause of pride and going to the doctors they have pride and that is why some people don't go to Jesus
*Women are more likely to seek help
*1 Peter 5:6 "Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you..." (ESV)
*God resist the proud he pushes himself away from them
*Matthew 23:12 "Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted." (ESV)
*If you humble yourself God will raise you up
*If you have to much pride God will push you down
*James 4:6 "But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, 'God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.'" (ESV)
*Don't resist God
*If you are going to resist something resist the Devil
*Some just do it in denial
*The greatest obstacle is they don't want to admit that they have a problem
*1 John 1:8-10 "If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us." (ESV)
Self Treatment
*There is nothing we can do to save ourselves
* One thing that could save you would be by obeying God and being baptized into Christ and believing
*Ephesians 5:8-9 "...for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and rights and true) …" (ESV)
*It is the gift of God
*You need Jesus, we all do
*There is never going to be a point when we will not need Jesus in out lives
*You have to trust
*If you don't trust in Jesus then you will never give your life to him
*Proverbs 3:5-8 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing your flesh and refreshment to your bones." (ESV)
*Hebrews 11:6 "And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him." (ESV)
*You have to trust and believe in his promises
*If you don't believe God has a place then you wont ever believe in him
Procrastination
*This is the kind of person who will not believe
*They put things off
*Somethings might get worse the longer you put it off
*Luke 9:46-52 "An argument arose among them as to which of them was the greatest. But Jesus, knowing the reasoning of their hearts, took a child and put him by his side and said to them, 'Whoever receives this child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me. For he who is least among you all is the one who is great.' John answered, 'Master, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and he tried to stop him, because he does not follow with us.' But Jesus said to him, 'Do not stop him, for the one who is not against you for you.' When the days drew near for him to be taken up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem. And he sent messengers ahead of him, who went and entered a village of Samaritans, to make preparations for him." (ESV)
*James 4:13-14 "Come now, you who say, 'Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit' - yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes." (ESV)
*You will never know what might happen, you might only have an hour we never know
*DO NOT PUT IT OFF
*people are afraid
*No reason to be afraid when Jesus is the Great Physician
*Acts 2:28 "You have made known to me the paths of life; you will make me full of gladness with your presence." (ESV)
*Jesus will not turn you away
